Wachovia Bank Robbery on 14 August 2007

GASTON COUNTY NC NEWS -- The Belmont Police Department and the FBI are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for the robbery of the Wachovia Bank located at 6501 Wilkinson Boulevard, Belmont, North Carolina. The bank robbery occurred on August 14, 2007, at approximately 9:12 a.m. and involved three black males, all of whom were approximately in their early Twenties.

Only two of the three bank robbers actually entered the bank, while one bank robber remained in the vicinity of the doorway of the bank. During the course of the bank robbery, one of the bank robbers struck a bank employees across the face with his hand, while the other bank robber brandished a knife. However, no other weapons were observed.

After acquiring an undisclosed amount of money, the bank robbers fled the bank. Included with the stolen money was a dye pack, so the suspects, their clothing, and/or the bank robbery loot may be covered in a red dye. The bank robbers may have fled the area in a black four-door automobile. The three bank robbers are described as:

• A black male 6' in height and weighing 180 - 200 pounds
• A black male 5'5" - 5'7" in height and weighing 130 - 160 pounds
• A black male 5'7" - 5'8" in height and weighing approximately 160 pounds

Two of the three bank robbers wore black shirts, blue-jean pants, and black baseball caps, and the remaining bank robber wore a dark shirt and blue-jean pants.

Investigators from the Belmont Police Department, the Gaston County Police Department, and the FBI responded to the scene, and this case is still under investigation by the Belmont Police Department and the FBI.
