August 20, 2007 MECKLENBURG COUNTY NC NEWS -- The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individual who is responsible for the robbery of the Wachovia Bank located at 1500 Westinghouse Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina. On August 20, 2007, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a lone male entered the bank and presented a bank robbery demand note to one of the bank tellers. The demand note indicated that the perpetrator was armed, but no weapon was observed or displayed during the bank robbery. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the perpetrator fled the area. It is not known if the perpetrator fled the area on foot or in a motor vehicle. The perpetrator was described as a black male, approximately 5'11 in height, weighing about 200 pounds, and 25 30 years of age. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, dark pants, and a black cap with white stripes and the letters "NC" embroidered into the front of the hat. Investigators from the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the robbery and are still investigating.
